Bergamo Alps

At Monte Avaro (province of Bergamo), on Sunday August 9 2015, the 12th Cattle Herding Dogs Championship was held. This is one of the highly enjoyable events held in the Bergamo Alps that attract lovers of the mountains and outdoors. Not everyone has the same ability to access the mountains and enjoy these events, but with certain tools also people with a visual impairment can enjoy these opportunities.

Proludic, on behalf of the Townships of Valle Brembana, asked Happy Vision to create two tactile maps that illustrate the area and its routes: trails, mountain tracks, unpaved and asphalted roads; streams and small lakes; as well as the tourist facilities: mountain refuges, mountain huts, equipped rest areas and notice boards. There's also a wayside shrine for praying.

Different background grids of the map show the different altitudes and enable the slope contours to be understood also by touching with the hands, and not just by the eyes. The raised tactile map enables even unsighted people to enjoy Monte Avaro and to take a more active and independent part in the events: Happy Vision creations for a more inclusive world.
