Accessibility of the Beghi Library in La Spezia

The Beghi Library in La Spezia is among the great architectural projects at European level for 2017.

The designers of the work - the 5 + 1AA Agency of Architecture and Project srl - have intervened in the south depot in the ex-Fitram area, a decommissioned factory in La Spezia, whose architectural features have been preserved, except for the insertion Of a volume that marks the actuality of the intervention.

Happy Vision has taken care of the accessibility of people with visual disabilities and has equipped the three levels of the Library with tactile paths and tactile maps:

• The ground floor (720 sqm), with information point, the office for consultation and self-care, the Children's Room, the Auditorium, the cafeteria and the toilets;

• the first floor (660 sqm) with the large reading room, computer room and library and management offices;

• The second floor (180 sqm) with the library, the consulting room and the historical archive. A plurality of services accessible to everyone, in an architectural context of an extremely high standard.
